A taste of heaven...
On Easter Sunday 2016, I prayed and asked God to see His heart as the Father of Jesus. As I prayed, God shared with me a vision of our daughter, Kristen, walking away from us holding Jesus' hand. As I saw the vision, God asked if I would see sin differently if it were my child that had to die for sin. Over the next two months I struggled with God over the vision. Each time I struggled with Him, His grace always prevailed.
The pain, the sorrow, the frustration, and the fury of my struggle were swallowed up in the glory of His presence. Each intimate moment with God's Spirit is a taste of heaven and the eternal glory that lies beyond. God was gentle with me as I struggled against the inevitable. He carried me through the trial like a ship being carried by the wind and the waves. I turned one way and then the other, looking for a way out of the storm. In the end, God's love guided me on a course that would bring peace to my spirit as He worked all things together for good.
"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose." (NASB Romans 8:28)
I don't believe God caused Kristen's accident but I do believe He allowed me a taste of His foreknowledge in answer to my prayer to see His heart... A heart that was broken as He watched His Son suffer and die for sin.
Some may wonder why the vision was of Kristen as a toddler instead of a teen. It was a sweet reminder of how our Father “God” sees us. We are forever and always his little child.

We shared the music video “Chain Breaker” a few days ago. My favorite line of the song is “He's a way maker!” It reminds me of the first time I was asked to share my testimony in public. The following is what the Lord gave me to share.
“God Will Make a Way”
My heart was filled with anger
and my mind with foolish pride.
Self-assured to those around me
while lost and lonely inside.
But my life was changed forever
on that cold November day.
With my body burned and broken
I looked to heaven and prayed.
The journey was not over
it had only just begun.
Six years of running later
my race for life was one.
I thought I ran alone
but God was with me all the way.
Through the lives of His children
As they shine His light each day.
When life's troubles surround you
and there seems to be no end.
Remember, His Spirit is still with us
He’s our everlasting friend.
He cares for our tomorrow
our today and yesterday.
We can't see him as He’s working
but He will make a way.

Sweet memories! His story continues through each of us. Our lives testify of God's grace and the hope that comes through our faith in His Son! God tells us not to hide His light under a basket but to let it give light (the encouragement of the Good News of Jesus) to the world around us. So, what's your story?
"The Light Inside"
Each of us has a story to tell! Our stories are unique, but each story is a testimony of God in the middle of the struggles of life. God is using Kristen Huffman's Facebook page to confirm a disabled daughter’s faith.
A co-worker of Julie Huffman shared this page with her friend and her daughter earlier this month. After seeing this page, Because She Believed, the 21 year old with Down Syndrome declared, “I know where Kristen is!” Her mom was surprised and asked her daughter where she thought Kristen was. Though her daughter had attended a special Christian school for those with similar struggles, the mom was not sure the gospel message had taken hold. She was delighted to hear her daughter say, “Kristen is with God," and overjoyed to know her daughter had heard and believed.
God is on the move in ways we may never suspect. We would love to hear how God is moving in your life. Share below or send us an email at BecauseSheBelieved@gmail.com. Ready, set... share!
When God led me to share our story of faith and hope in the midst of our trial, He told me there would be some who would not believe it and even others who would think that we were desiring status or seeking attention.
Well, I do have to confess that there is an ulterior motive for sharing our story, "Because She Believed." The ulterior motive (or superior motive) for any believer to share their story should be to bring glory to our Father. Jesus gave us the example by giving all the glory of his story to the Father.
As children of God, Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, our story. How blessed we are to be part of God's story in this fallen world... to have the opportunity to be light in the darkness.
I love how Paul describes the life of a disciple as a letter from Christ, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God. A letter to be known and read by all. Each of our stories is a letter from Christ that testifies to the glory of the Father.
I leave you with this last thought. The woman at the well was a person of low status in her community, but the testimony of her encounter with Jesus (her story) changed a whole town.
"Many Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman's testimony, “He told me all that I ever did.”" (ESV John 4:39)
Every child of God has a story to tell regarding their encounter with the grace of the Father through Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
"For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us." (ESV 2 Corinthians 4:5-7)
So, what is your story?
Sweet joy... Every day is an opportunity. Don't take anything for granted!
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change." (ESV James 1:17)
4-year-old Maya has Cerebral Palsy and has never been able to walk on her own – now just watch as she takes her first steps...
Feel free to pass on the joy! ❤️
Beautiful song to the Father!

The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. (Psalm 19:1)
The glory of God surrounds us... May we always take time to be inspired. He shares so much with us through His creation in the course of one day.
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So there is no excuse for not knowing God. (Romans 1:20)
This picture is from our 2015 reunion with our Hawaii ohana. We so look forward to our blessed reunion with our sweet Kristen in heaven. In Christ, we all have this eternal assurance.
"For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. … He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the Spirit as a guarantee." (ESV 2 Corinthians 5:1,5)
God's refreshing presence - The comfort and confidence I have as a child of God is that He always shows up. I may be too busy or too distracted to notice but my weakness does not change the faithfulness of God.
As I wrestled with God trying to prevent what His foreknowledge had revealed, the comfort of His grace and mercy always prevailed. The consistency of His provision in and through our lives laid the foundation of my trust to release Kristen to His eternal care. The truth remained steadfast that He had always cared for my baby girl more than I ever could in the weakness of my flesh. For He had known her and loved her before the foundation of the world.
Our Father is at the same time mysterious and yet intimately familiar through His Holy Spirit. The Spirit, whom He left with us to remind of us of our eternity with Him. His Son and His Spirit have been given as an eternal investment in each of our lives. Can you imagine any greater love than the love of the Father that moved Him to such sacrifice? He paid so high a cost to rescue us from our sin. Why would we believe that He is not intimately involved with us, day by day, moment by moment, to insure that we, His most costly investment, are preserved through every trial and every storm of life?
"I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”" (ESV John 16:33)
"For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith." (ESV 1 John 5:4)
