It only takes a little faith…

“It only takes a little faith to move a mountain.” Even If – Mercy Me

Jesus spoke of having childlike faith… but what is it?

We saw an example of this type of faith in a recent post about a boy who spoke with God about the loss of a special pet. (The Faith of a Child!)

Childlike faith is not blind faith. As a child of God, our faith is anything but blind. We all have experience with the grace, the mercy, and the faithfulness of our Lord. He has seen us through many peaks and valleys. He has walked with us through good times and hard times. Our faith is based on our personal encounter with our Savior.

“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. ” (Heb 11:1)

Before I knew the Lord through His Word, I knew Him through his creation. My hope was not built on blind faith. I could see the glory of God through His creation. I knew the tender touch of His Spirit as He led me through the struggles of life. I knew His intimacy before I even knew His name.

So when we talk about childlike faith, it is not blind faith. Our faith is established on the promises of God’s Word and a proven track record of our personal experience with Him.

Amen!

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. (Heb 13:8)

At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. (Matt 11:25-26)

And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. (Matt 18:2-4)
